Teaching Format:

The lessons are taught by combining lectures, quizzes, hands on lab work, and individual instruction based upon the background and application of each student. The LSU Training Manual and CD is a valuable take-home resource for practical applications. With 5 instructors and a maximum of about 10 students there is ample time for individual help. Students are encouraged to bring their light scattering data files for individual consultations. Social time is also scheduled to allow the students to learn from each other and to interact with Wyatt Technology's staff in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Who Should Attend:

The lessons learned in our training courses will be of tremendous benefit to those individuals who:

  • Purchase a new Wyatt Technology instrument
  • Change job responsibilities, and will be using a DAWN, miniDAWN, DynaPro and/or Eclipse instrument for the first time
  • Have been using Wyatt Technology's instruments and want to increase their knowledge of light scattering and/or FFF theory and its applications
  • Are responsible for finding new applications for light scattering and/or FFF within their research group

Training Courses:

Every month there is one week at Wyatt Technology where all training courses are held. For more information about each training course, please click on the links below:

  1. Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS):
    1 day, Tuesday 8:15 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  2. Multi-Angle Light Scattering (MALS):
    2.5 days, Tuesday 8:15 a.m. to Thursday 1 p.m.

  3. Field-Flow Fractionation (FFF):
    1.5 days, Thursday 1 p.m. to Friday 4 p.m.

All three training courses cover basics of theory as well as software and hardware training. After having attended you should be able to install and run your equipment. Installation and instrument service is part of the seminar, and so are software and hardware trainings. Wyatt Technology organizes transportation and on-site meals throughout the course.

What our customers say about our training courses:

"A real good mixture of lab sessions and seminar work. I especially found the computer course and trouble shooting of the ASTRA software very useful."
- K. V., Pharmaceutical Company

"All trainers make a very competent and ambitious impression. Very good work!"
- K. B., Chemical Company

"The first day was very heavy on theory and equations. But on the last day of LSU everything began to make sense and the possibilities of what I can use light scattering for became clear to me - especially the protein conjugate session was very nice."
A. G., University

"I enjoyed the training and learned a lot! The hotel accommodation, meals, and training facilities were excellent!"
- J. A., University
